The Calix C7 Multiservice Access Platform (MSAP)
The Calix C7 is a highly integrated, very high capacity packet-based platform that combines service delivery and transport technologies with high-density fiber and copper connectivity in the same chassis. The packet-based Calix C7 snaps into existing networks, seamlessly integrating with traditional operations and support systems. The system allows service providers to deploy advanced end-to-end Ethernet and IP services with the most advanced security features available in the market today. Additionally if service providers still have a need to support legacy services, the Calix C7 can bridge the gap between circuit and cell-based services and next generation Ethernet and IP services. This capability is another unique feature of the Calix C7.
The Calix C7 combines massive capacity with enough connection density and flexibility to fully enable the transformation of narrowband and first-generation broadband subscribers to ultra-broadband fiber or copper connections. It supports virtually any service requirement in any network topology, delivering transport-class bandwidth at new price points. Fully supporting both the optical and electrical domains, the Calix C7 elegantly allows transitioning networks from copper to fiber and narrowband to broadband.
Massive Fiber and Copper Density
The Calix C7 platform supports dense optical and copper service interfaces yielding large revenue potential in a compact package. Plug-in cards can be deployed in any slot to provide services ranging in bandwidth from 64 kbps to 10 Gbps.
Calix C7 shelves can be interconnected to form a single network element that can deliver 2,400 or more optical or metallic connections to subscribers. In typical applications, a single 14-inch Calix C7 shelf can drop 480 POTS or DSL circuits, or it can drop Ethernet ports to subtended devices as well as Ethernet business services. With GPON capability from any slot in the chassis, the Calix C7 delivers the industry's first seamless migration to fiber to the premises in the same chassis and cabinet used for metallic service deployment. Innovative cable management systems in the Calix C7 and associated outdoor cabinets simplify cabling and aid in the efficient routing of the large amounts of fiber and copper that the platform terminates.
